Words can't express the feeling of hope and togetherness.  The knowing that the struggle has accomplished goals and removed barriors.  The love for one another.  "Oh Happy Day"  "Yes, We can."

I woud like to Thank God for allowing me to be a part of History.  My daughter and i traveled to Maryland on Monday and stayed with relatives. On Tuesday morning we got up a 3:45 a.m. to leave for Washington.  We got to Washington at 5:00 a.m by car and had to take the metro into the mall.  In the freezing weather my daughter, our three cousins, and i stood in the freezing weather to be a part of this special occasion. This is a day that i will never forget. Not only did i witness out first Black President being sworned in but it happen without any arrest.  That is a blessing by itself.  I wish my father Clarence and my uncle Willie. coud be here to witness this special day.

My Daughter and I went to the Inauguration of President Barack Obama.  We braved the cold temperatures and the crowds and spent eight (8) hours in the cold.  We got to the National Mall at 5:00 am and we started toward the metro at 1:00 pm after the New Presidents moving speech.  My daughter was about to give up and go home, but she stayed with me because she said "you came all the way from New York and I know how much it meant to you to be here."  We had a wonderful experience together.  Everyone was so friendly and the mood was electrified.   I would do it all again:)

It was a great day for me to see a black man become president.  I'm only nine years old and it was great to see that there are two little girls that are going to be in the White House my age.
